Dos Armadillos Añejo is a 100% blue Weber agave tequila aged 18 months in 200-litre American oak barrels, well past the one-year minimum for an añejo, and bottled at 40% ABV.
It is made from agave mostly eight years old or more, grown in the highlands of Jalisco, cooked in autoclaves and double distilled. The highland agave gives this añejo a bright floral sweetness beneath the oak.
Dos Armadillos is known as much for its remarkably ornate, handcrafted bottle as for the spirit inside: a crystal-finish decanter wrapped in protective armadillo armour, presented in its own gift box.
Eighteen months in oak give it a rich, complex character, with the floral sweetness of highland agave beneath heavy oak influence.

Añejo tequila is aged between one and three years in oak barrels of no more than 600 litres, long enough to add colour, sweetness and spice while keeping the character of the agave, which makes it a natural sipping tequila.
Tequila can only be made from blue Weber agave in five designated Mexican states, chiefly Jalisco, and the finest bottlings are made from 100% agave. Sipping tequila is best enjoyed from a narrow-rimmed glass that concentrates the aromas, at room temperature and without salt or lime, so the character of the agave and the barrel can come through.
