Double A Appreciation & Atonement is a 6-year-old Texas straight bourbon whiskey bottled at 103 proof (51.5% ABV).
It is made from Texas corn, Saskatchewan rye and North Dakota malted barley, triple distilled on a Vendome pot still and cut with Texas limestone water.
It matures in new charred American white oak barrels.
It shows spicy caramel on the nose, butterscotch and vanilla on the palate, and hints of orange peel and leather on the finish.
As the most mature core release in the Double A lineup, it is the richest and boldest, and its gold medallion label makes it a handsome gift for a Texas whiskey fan.
Bourbon must be made in the United States from a mash of at least 51% corn and aged in new charred oak containers, and straight bourbon must be aged at least two years. Those rules give bourbon its characteristic sweetness, with caramel and vanilla drawn from the charred barrels.
