Eagle Rare is Buffalo Trace's standard 10-year-old bourbon, first released in 1975. Double Eagle Very Rare was introduced in 2019 at twice that age, and it is bottled at 101 proof as a nod to Eagle Rare's original proof. The series is allocated, and each release is produced in very small numbers: the 2020 edition covered by Buffalo Trace's announcement was limited to 199 bottles, each with an individually numbered letter of authenticity.
