Eden Mill The Art of St Andrews 2024 is the second annual release in Eden Mill's Art of St Andrews collection, a single malt Scotch whisky aged in Amarone wine casks and bottled at 46.5% ABV, non-chill filtered.
Curated by Head Distiller Scott Ferguson, the series pairs innovative cask selection with packaging designed by a local Scottish artist to celebrate St Andrews. For 2024, the coastal malt was matured in casks that held Amarone, the rich red wine of Northern Italy, bringing its dessert and spice character into the whisky. The box shows a striking illustration of the town's skyline and cathedral in deep reds and blues.
On the nose come mulled wine, clove and cherry Bakewell tart. The palate moves from red fruit to dark fruit, with blackberry compote, fig jam and black pepper, and the finish brings glazed cinnamon bun and glacé cherries.
With its faceted, textured bottle and artist-designed box, it is a beautiful collectable and a wonderful gift.
Serve it neat to appreciate the wine-cask richness.
Scotch whisky must be distilled and matured in Scotland for at least three years in oak casks, and any age statement on the label refers to the youngest whisky in the bottle.
