Egan's Vintage Grain is a single grain Irish whiskey distilled in a column still and casked in American oak bourbon barrels for a minimum of eight years, bottled at 92 proof (46% ABV).
P. & H. Egan was founded by Patrick Egan Sr. in 1852 in Tullamore, Ireland, and grew through malting, brewing and bottling; by the late 19th century his sons Henry and Patrick Jr. had expanded it into one of the largest and most diverse businesses of its kind. The family's story includes tragedy: two of three Egan sons were killed in battle, and the third was withdrawn from his priestly studies to preserve the family name. Today the revived brand's whiskeys are hand-selected by Jonathan V. Egan, the sixth generation of a family with whiskey in their blood, and Vintage Grain was the second release from the revived brand.
