El Ateo Añejo is an additive-free añejo tequila made from 100% Blue Weber agave in Jalisco and aged in American oak barrels, bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV).
The brand is built on the philosophy that great tequila needs nothing added to be exceptional. Ageing in American oak gives the añejo a warm amber colour and the layered complexity of a well-made aged tequila, with the honest sweetness of cooked agave at its core.
The nose brings cooked agave, vanilla, caramel and toasted oak. The palate is smooth and clean, with agave sweetness, butterscotch, warm spice and gentle oak, and the finish is clean and warming.

Añejo tequila is aged between one and three years in oak barrels of no more than 600 litres, long enough to add colour, sweetness and spice while keeping the character of the agave, which makes it a natural sipping tequila.
Tequila can only be made from blue Weber agave in five designated Mexican states, chiefly Jalisco, and the finest bottlings are made from 100% agave. Sipping tequila is best enjoyed from a narrow-rimmed glass that concentrates the aromas, at room temperature and without salt or lime, so the character of the agave and the barrel can come through.
Añejo tequila is aged at least one year in oak barrels no larger than 600 litres, which gives it a deeper colour and richer flavour than a reposado.
Additive-free tequila contains nothing but agave, water and yeast, with no added sweeteners, colouring or flavourings.
