El Mayor Cristalino is a handcrafted añejo tequila aged at least 12 months and filtered with ultra-fine charcoal for crystal-clear brilliance, bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV).
For over four generations the González family has perfected tequila making, and El Mayor represents that legacy. Its agaves grow in the mineral-rich soil of Jalisco's volcanic highland hills and are harvested at more than seven years old. El Mayor Cristalino is blended from the family's finest añejo, selected for its well-balanced oak flavors, then filtered twice through ultra-fine charcoal, as fourth-generation distiller Graciela González describes, to keep the complexity of an añejo with the crisp, bright notes and color of a blanco. It is made at DGL Destiladores near Arandas.
Crystal clear, it shows cooked agave with oak, hints of vanilla and complex fruity undertones leading to herbal notes. The palate brings oak with dried fruit and vanilla, and the finish is fresh, with herbal and citrus notes.

Añejo tequila is aged between one and three years in oak barrels of no more than 600 litres, long enough to add colour, sweetness and spice while keeping the character of the agave, which makes it a natural sipping tequila.
Tequila can only be made from blue Weber agave in five designated Mexican states, chiefly Jalisco, and the finest bottlings are made from 100% agave. Sipping tequila is best enjoyed from a narrow-rimmed glass that concentrates the aromas, at room temperature and without salt or lime, so the character of the agave and the barrel can come through.
