El Tequileño Platinum is a blanco tequila made from 100% estate-grown highland Blue Weber agave, twice distilled in copper pot stills and rested at least 14 days in American oak pipones. It is bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV).
El Tequileño is made at NOM 1108, the distillery of the Salles Cuervo family, Jorge Salles Cuervo y Sucesores. The agave is estate-grown in Los Altos de Jalisco and fermented in open-top tanks before slow distillation in copper pots.
The short rest in large American oak pipones smooths and integrates the spirit with a subtle barrel touch while keeping the classic freshness of a blanco. The nose brings cooked agave, herbal anise, black pepper and citrus zest; the palate is clean agave with white pepper, spearmint, banana and a touch of cinnamon.
It is a polished sipping blanco and a natural gift for tequila fans.
Blanco tequila is bottled unaged or rested for less than two months, so it shows the agave at its purest: bright, peppery and fresh. It is the classic choice for margaritas and palomas, and a good blanco is just as rewarding sipped neat.
Tequila can only be made from blue Weber agave in five designated Mexican states, chiefly Jalisco, and the finest bottlings are made from 100% agave. Sipping tequila is best enjoyed from a narrow-rimmed glass that concentrates the aromas, at room temperature and without salt or lime, so the character of the agave and the barrel can come through.
