ElVelo Blanco is an additive-free, high-proof tequila from the Tequila Valley, made at La Cofradía with second-generation master distiller Carlos Hernández Ramos and bottled at 89 proof (44.5% ABV).
ElVelo celebrates the distinctive character of the Tequila Valley: 100% puro de agave sourced entirely from its volcanic-rich soils. Conceived in collaboration with master distiller Carlos Hernández Ramos and craft cocktail bartenders, it is traditionally produced with no additives or diffusers, double distilled and bottled at a higher proof so the agave stays the star in Margaritas and Palomas.
Bold and flavorful, it shows sweet cooked agave, cinnamon, minerals, vegetal and grassy notes, a little citrus and a touch of mint and spice; the Valley terroir gives it a punchier, earthier profile.
The vintage-style bottle makes it a great gift for home bartenders.
Blanco tequila is bottled unaged or rested for less than two months, so it shows the agave at its purest: bright, peppery and fresh. It is the classic choice for margaritas and palomas, and a good blanco is just as rewarding sipped neat.
Tequila can only be made from blue Weber agave in five designated Mexican states, chiefly Jalisco, and the finest bottlings are made from 100% agave. Sipping tequila is best enjoyed from a narrow-rimmed glass that concentrates the aromas, at room temperature and without salt or lime, so the character of the agave and the barrel can come through.
