ElVelo Reposado is a bold, additive-free tequila from the heart of the Tequila Valley, rested in ex-Jack Daniel's barrels and bottled at a higher 89 proof (44.5% ABV).
It was developed alongside cocktail connoisseurs from Mexico and the US to showcase a bold tequila essence in drinks. Made from 100% puro de agave grown in volcanic-rich soils, it is crafted by second-generation master distiller Carlos Hernández Ramos of La Cofradía (NOM 1137).
Resting about five months in ex-Jack Daniel's barrels achieves a harmonious balance between robust agave and nuanced oak. The tasting notes are papaya, canela and toasted marshmallow, finishing clean with a hint of hazelnut. No additives, no shortcuts, just an undeniably rich Valley profile.
The squat bottle with its volcano label is made for the back bar and makes a great gift for home bartenders.
Reposado, meaning rested, is tequila aged between two months and a year in oak, which gives it a pale gold colour and a gentle touch of wood while keeping the agave bright and lively.
Tequila can only be made from blue Weber agave in five designated Mexican states, chiefly Jalisco, and the finest bottlings are made from 100% agave. Sipping tequila is best enjoyed from a narrow-rimmed glass that concentrates the aromas, at room temperature and without salt or lime, so the character of the agave and the barrel can come through.
