Espanita Double Barrel Añejo is a 100% Blue Weber agave tequila aged at least 12 months in American white oak, then finished for another eight months in Kentucky bourbon barrels. It is bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV).
Espanita is a female-founded tequila brand launched in 2017 by Marina Wilson, and the Double Barrel Añejo, released in November 2023, is the second release in its Barrel Reserve collection and the brand's first ultra-premium tequila. It is crafted with master distiller Beto Ramírez: an exquisitely balanced aged tequila that brings together the best craft practices and innovative maturation.
The result is rich, elegantly executed and decadently delicious: aromatic bourbon notes charm the senses while the grassy, fruit-driven blue agave foundation comes through in full. The two-step maturation brings the sweet confections of American whiskey together with the bright, earthy character of artisanal agave.

Añejo tequila is aged between one and three years in oak barrels of no more than 600 litres, long enough to add colour, sweetness and spice while keeping the character of the agave, which makes it a natural sipping tequila.
Tequila can only be made from blue Weber agave in five designated Mexican states, chiefly Jalisco, and the finest bottlings are made from 100% agave. Sipping tequila is best enjoyed from a narrow-rimmed glass that concentrates the aromas, at room temperature and without salt or lime, so the character of the agave and the barrel can come through.
