Excellia Blanco is a Franco-Mexican 100% blue Weber agave tequila, rested a few weeks in Grand Cru Sauternes wine casks and Cognac barrels before bottling, at 80 proof (40% ABV).
Excellia brings the French tradition of fine-spirits finishing to tequila, born from a collaboration between master distiller Carlos Camarena and Jean-Sébastien Robicquet. The brief rest in Sauternes and Cognac casks gives the blanco a faint gold shade and a complexity far beyond a typical unaged tequila, while keeping a clean, highland-style agave profile.
The nose reveals cloves, tobacco and toasted brioche. On the palate, it is complex, with spices, vanilla, fruit and leather, and the finish is long.
The elegant bottle with its red wax seal makes it a refined gift.
Blanco tequila is bottled unaged or rested for less than two months, so it shows the agave at its purest: bright, peppery and fresh. It is the classic choice for margaritas and palomas, and a good blanco is just as rewarding sipped neat.
Tequila can only be made from blue Weber agave in five designated Mexican states, chiefly Jalisco, and the finest bottlings are made from 100% agave. Sipping tequila is best enjoyed from a narrow-rimmed glass that concentrates the aromas, at room temperature and without salt or lime, so the character of the agave and the barrel can come through.
