Flecha Azul Añejo is an ultra-premium, additive-free tequila aged 18 months in ex-bourbon American oak barrels, six months longer than the industry standard for añejo, and bottled at 40% ABV.
Hecho en México and enjoyed everywhere, Flecha Azul is crafted with zero additives and only three ingredients: blue Weber agave, yeast and volcanic water.
It is expressive of rich maple and caramel without ever being cloying, as dried herbs and pineapple cream soda keep things vibrant, tied together with a lingering note of black pepper. Agave and buttery oak lead to a round, smooth finish of subtle vanilla, maple, caramel and brown spices such as cinnamon and nutmeg.
A polished, approachable añejo, it makes a fine gift for tequila lovers.
Enjoy it neat or in an añejo old fashioned.
Añejo tequila is aged between one and three years in oak barrels of no more than 600 litres, long enough to add colour, sweetness and spice while keeping the character of the agave, which makes it a natural sipping tequila.
Tequila can only be made from blue Weber agave in five designated Mexican states, chiefly Jalisco, and the finest bottlings are made from 100% agave. Sipping tequila is best enjoyed from a narrow-rimmed glass that concentrates the aromas, at room temperature and without salt or lime, so the character of the agave and the barrel can come through.
