Four Roses Super Premium, also known as Platinum, is a Kentucky straight bourbon created for the Japanese market and bottled at 43% ABV. It blends bourbons aged between 8 and 10 years.
The whiskey is distilled and aged at the Four Roses distillery in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, then shipped to Japan for bottling, which makes it a rare find outside Japan. Four Roses is known for blending from ten distinct recipes, combining two mash bills with five proprietary yeast strains.
Golden amber in colour, it offers caramel, pear and honeydew with sweet oak, vanilla and florals on the nose. The palate brings melon and custard with apple, caramel, lychee and chocolate, and the finish is gentle and long, with honey and light oak.
It is a collectable gift for Four Roses fans and bourbon lovers.
Enjoy it neat or with a single ice cube.
Bourbon must be made in the United States from a mash of at least 51% corn and aged in new charred oak containers, and straight bourbon must be aged at least two years. Those rules give bourbon its characteristic sweetness, with caramel and vanilla drawn from the charred barrels.
