G4 Añejo de Madera Día de Muertos is a limited edition additive-free tequila from Master Distiller Felipe Camarena at the El Pandillo distillery in Jesús María, Jalisco. Aged for 12 months in vintage George Dickel Tennessee whiskey barrels, it is bottled at 43% ABV and presented in a colourful box celebrating the Day of the Dead.
The de Madera name refers to wood: G4's de Madera tequilas are fermented in wooden vats rather than stainless steel, a traditional method that adds texture and complexity before the spirit ever reaches the barrel. Felipe Camarena is one of the most respected figures in tequila, and El Pandillo is known for its inventive equipment and for making tequila with nothing added.
The añejo then spends a full year in vintage George Dickel Tennessee whiskey barrels, a pairing that links Jalisco's Highlands with Tennessee's whiskey tradition.
The Día de Muertos editions are released in boxes decorated with papel picado and calavera motifs, and this one is in vivid orange and yellow. It follows earlier editions in other colours and is a favourite with collectors of the G4 range.
It is a wonderful bottle to share during the Day of the Dead season and a fine gift for any agave enthusiast.
