Gary Farrell Russian River Selection Chardonnay 2022 is a cool-climate Chardonnay from the Russian River Valley, at 13.7% ABV.
It was aged 10 months in French oak, 30% new, and racked off its primary lees just once, before bottling.
Bottled in July 2023, it is a small-production wine of 6,204 cases.
Expect honeysuckle, white peach, green apple and honeydew melon, with a flinty, lightly smoky finish.
A classic Russian River Valley white for the table or a gift.
Good wine rewards a little care in serving. Whites and rosés show best chilled to around 45 to 50°F, while reds are at their most expressive slightly below room temperature, around 60 to 65°F. Opening the bottle and letting it breathe for a few minutes, or pouring it into a decanter, helps the aromas open up.
