Glendalough 7 Year Old Mizunara Finish is a single malt Irish whiskey distilled from 100% Irish barley, matured first in ex-bourbon barrels and then finished in rare Japanese Mizunara oak casks from Hokkaido, bottled at 46% ABV.
Glendalough Distillery was set up by a group of friends from Wicklow and Dublin with a passion for reviving Ireland's heritage of craft distilling. In the 18th and 19th centuries Ireland had more than 200 licensed distilleries, a number that later fell to a small handful, and Glendalough set out to bring back that diversity. It pioneered the use of Mizunara oak in Irish whiskey.
Mizunara is famously rare and difficult to work with, and the finish adds exotic notes of sandalwood, cinnamon and dark chocolate while preserving the whiskey's bright, floral Irish character.

Irish single malt is made from 100% malted barley at a single distillery. Bourbon barrels lay down a base of vanilla, honey and soft oak, and a finish in a second cask adds a new layer on top, here the incense-like spice for which Mizunara is prized in Japanese whisky.
Mizunara oak is porous and prone to leaking, which makes its casks rare and costly, so a Mizunara finish is still unusual outside Japan.
