Glenkinchie 12 Year Old is a Lowland single malt Scotch whisky aged twelve years in American oak casks and bottled at 43% ABV, the flagship of the distillery known as the Edinburgh malt.
Glenkinchie was founded in 1825 near the village of Pencaitland in East Lothian, about fifteen miles southeast of Edinburgh, and represents the Lowlands in the Classic Malts of Scotland series. Its wash still is the largest in Scotland at nearly 31,000 litres, paired with an unusual cast-iron worm tub, and together they produce an unusually floral, grassy spirit.
Fresh, light and clean, it offers fresh grass, spring flowers, cereal and a hint of citrus on the nose, then honey, fresh barley, vanilla and subtle oak, finishing short and delicate.
