Glenmorangie A Tale of Spices is the sixth limited edition in the distillery's A Tale of series, launched in September 2025, a Highland single malt Scotch whisky bottled at 46% ABV without chill filtration.
Inspired by the vibrant aromas and colours of global spice markets and Dr Bill Lumsden's travels, it begins in ex-bourbon casks before a pioneering four-way cask finish: ex-Moroccan red wine casks made from French oak, a first for the distillery, along with new charred oak, shaved and toasted red wine casks, and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. It was the first time Glenmorangie combined four finishing cask types in one whisky, and it won Gold at the 2025 International Spirits Challenge.
The nose opens with rose petals, carnation, jasmine and lilac over a spice basket of cumin, saffron, nutmeg, ginger, chilli and anise. The palate brings cumin, saffron and ginger, then nutmeg, chilli and anise, with sugared almonds and a eucalyptus-like freshness, and the long finish blends mint toffee with a peppery zing.
Glenmorangie, founded in 1843 in Tain, is known for the tallest stills in Scotland, and this colourful limited edition makes a striking gift.
Sip it neat, or with a few drops of water to open the florals.
