Glenmorangie The Infinita is the distillery's 18-year-old Highland single malt, the 2023 successor to its acclaimed 18 Year Old Extremely Rare. Crafted under Dr Bill Lumsden, it is bottled at 43% ABV.
The whisky matures for 15 years in American white oak ex-bourbon casks. Part of it then moves into Oloroso sherry casks for around three more years, while the rest stays in bourbon wood, and the two are married together at 18 years. The result layers Glenmorangie's famously fruity, floral spirit with rich sherry depth, creating a kaleidoscope of flavours.
Honey, vanilla and chocolate lead the nose, followed by fresher notes of pear, orange and peach, with apple and wood developing over time. The palate is richer and chocolatey, with hazelnut, a buttery texture, spice and pepper, and citrus emerging later. The finish brings dark chocolate with melon and grapefruit, ending with spice, blackcurrant and sea salt.
Presented in a vivid blue box with Glenmorangie's swirling design, it is a superb gift.
Enjoy it neat, or with a drop of water to bring out the fruit.
Scotch whisky must be distilled and matured in Scotland for at least three years in oak casks, and any age statement on the label refers to the youngest whisky in the bottle.
