Glenmorangie The Original 12 Year Old is the reimagined flagship Highland single malt Scotch whisky from Glenmorangie, matured in bourbon casks and now aged 12 years instead of 10.
The Original is where all of Glenmorangie's whisky-making adventures begin. Bill Lumsden, head of distilling and whisky creation, chose to give the whisky an extra two years in wood while staying faithful to its profile, and the extra maturation softens the high-toned herbal edge of the young spirit in exchange for a creamy, pastry-like sophistication. The result is richer, rounder and more polished, still smooth and luscious and accessible to newcomers and connoisseurs alike.
Sweet orange and ripe peach lead the nose with vanilla, honey and floral chamomile. The buttery, mouth-coating palate brings honey-soaked shortbread, nectarine, a touch of tropical fruit and gentle spice, with pops of black pepper amid juicy peach and sweet vanilla.
