God Enoc Extra Añejo is a 100% blue Weber agave tequila from Jalisco, bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV) in a dark glass bottle dressed with an ornate black and gold label.
Extra añejo is tequila's longest-aged category: by law it must rest at least three years in oak. That time develops a deep amber color and concentrated oak, dried fruit and spice, and God Enoc's extended maturation brings layers of caramel, vanilla and toasted oak while keeping the natural sweetness of the agave. It is produced under NOM 1431 in the Weber tequila country of Jalisco.
This is the glass-bottle edition, recognizable by the swirling gold filigree across the label and neck and the Extra Añejo script at the base. The brand also offers the same tequila in a hand-painted ceramic bottle as a collector's piece.
A rich, slow sipper, it is a strong choice as a gift for anyone who enjoys aged spirits, from tequila fans to bourbon and cognac drinkers.
Pour it neat into a snifter and give it a few minutes in the glass.
Extra añejo is the most mature category of tequila, created in 2006 for tequilas aged more than three years in oak barrels of no more than 600 litres. The long rest softens the agave's natural pepper and brings out caramel, vanilla and dried fruit, which is why extra añejos are usually enjoyed neat, like a fine cognac or whisky.
