Gold Bar Black Double Cask is a straight bourbon whiskey distilled from 80% Texas corn and 20% Oklahoma rye, matured three to six years in new American oak and then finished in Napa Valley French oak wine barrels. It is non-chill filtered and bottled at 92 proof (46% ABV).
Crafted in collaboration with a Texas-based distillery, the bourbon starts with a classic high-corn, 20% rye mash that balances sweetness and spice. The years in new charred American oak give it the traditional bourbon backbone of vanilla, caramel and oak, and the second cask, French oak barrels that once held Napa Valley wine, adds outstanding smoothness and complexity.
The result is bold, smooth and distinctive, with balanced layers of smoke, spicy rye and creamy fruit. Leaving it non-chill filtered keeps the natural oils and texture from the barrels.
Gold Bar's tall black bottle, inset with a gold medallion, makes it a striking gift and a showpiece on any back bar.
Bourbon must be made in the United States from a mash of at least 51% corn and aged in new charred oak containers, and straight bourbon must be aged at least two years. Those rules give bourbon its characteristic sweetness, with caramel and vanilla drawn from the charred barrels.
