Gran Centenario Añejo is a 100% agave tequila aged approximately 16 months in new American oak barrels, resulting in a uniquely smooth, sweet and high-quality spirit, bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV).
Gran Centenario is made at the La Perseverancia distillery in the Los Altos highlands of Jalisco, which has been producing award-winning tequila since 1857. The Añejo is distilled from carefully selected blue agave and aged in new American oak to achieve a tequila of unparalleled smoothness. This soft and complex añejo has won numerous awards, including a Double Gold medal at the 2019 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
The aroma is slightly fruity, with subtle cooked agave and toasted almonds. On the palate it is smooth, with a hint of sweetness and notes of cooked agave, toasted almonds, cloves and vanilla, and the finish is soft and complex, with pleasant aromatics and a balanced profile.
A sipping añejo with real finesse.
Añejo tequila is aged between one and three years in oak barrels of no more than 600 litres, long enough to add colour, sweetness and spice while keeping the character of the agave, which makes it a natural sipping tequila.
Tequila can only be made from blue Weber agave in five designated Mexican states, chiefly Jalisco, and the finest bottlings are made from 100% agave. Sipping tequila is best enjoyed from a narrow-rimmed glass that concentrates the aromas, at room temperature and without salt or lime, so the character of the agave and the barrel can come through.
