Gran Sociedad Joven de Los Altos is a prestige small-batch tequila from the highlands of Jalisco, introduced in 2021. It blends young white tequila with an older tequila that has rested in medium-toasted American oak, and is bottled at 40% ABV.
The agave is sourced from the Tepatitlán area of Los Altos and matures for six to eight years in the field before harvest. Blending the bright blanco with the barrel-rested tequila gives a joven that is both lively and rounded, with the medium toast adding spice, smoke, vanilla and chocolate.
Its bouquet is a delicate balance of citrus, fruit and floral notes, underlined by natural agave. On the palate it is smooth and balanced, with a slight sweetness from the cooked agave, and notes of vanilla, honey, caramel, cocoa, coffee and spice.
The sleek black bottle with its white agave emblem comes in a book-style gift box, making it an elegant gift.
Sip it neat or over a single large ice cube.
Joven tequila blends unaged blanco with aged tequila, bringing together the brightness of fresh agave and the roundness of oak in one glass.
Tequila can only be made from blue Weber agave in five designated Mexican states, chiefly Jalisco, and the finest bottlings are made from 100% agave. Sipping tequila is best enjoyed from a narrow-rimmed glass that concentrates the aromas, at room temperature and without salt or lime, so the character of the agave and the barrel can come through.
