Grand Mayan Extra Aged is a 100% blue agave extra añejo tequila from Jalisco, aged a minimum of three years with older components resting up to five, and bottled at 40% ABV in a handmade, hand-painted ceramic bottle.
The agave is slowly cooked in traditional stone and brick ovens, slowly fermented and distilled in copper-lined stills. After distillation the tequila rests in ex-bourbon and ex-Cognac barrels, which add sweet oak, vanilla, caramel, chocolate, nuts and warm spice. Each batch is blended for smoothness and balance.
The long maturation gives a rich, barrel-forward profile with deep sweetness, a smooth texture and a long, layered finish, a sipping tequila that feels closer to a fine aged spirit.
The talavera-style ceramic bottle, painted by hand in blue and white, is a collector's piece in its own right and a striking gift.

Extra añejo is the most mature category of tequila, created in 2006 for tequilas aged more than three years in oak barrels of no more than 600 litres. The long rest softens the agave's natural pepper and brings out caramel, vanilla and dried fruit, which is why extra añejos are usually enjoyed neat, like a fine cognac or whisky.
Tequila can only be made from blue Weber agave in five designated Mexican states, chiefly Jalisco, and the finest bottlings are made from 100% agave. Sipping tequila is best enjoyed from a narrow-rimmed glass that concentrates the aromas, at room temperature and without salt or lime, so the character of the agave and the barrel can come through.
