Green Spot Château Montelena is a single pot still Irish whiskey initially aged in traditional sherry and bourbon casks, then given a final maturation of 12 months in French oak Zinfandel wine casks from the prestigious Château Montelena in Napa Valley, bottled at 46% ABV.
Green Spot is a single pot still Irish whiskey from Midleton Distillery in County Cork, made from a mash of malted and unmalted barley, a style found only in Ireland. It began life with Mitchell & Son, Dublin wine merchants since 1805, who from 1887 sent their empty wine, sherry and port casks to the distillery to be filled with whiskey and bottled under their own label. This release followed the acclaimed Green Spot Château Léoville Barton, released in 2015, and celebrates a shared Irish heritage, merging the stories of Green Spot and Château Montelena in one whiskey.
The Zinfandel casks add a new dimension to Green Spot's spicy, orchard-fruit pot still character.
A collaboration between Irish whiskey and a celebrated Napa winery, it makes a distinctive gift.
Enjoy it neat or with a drop of water.
Irish single pot still whiskey is famous for its creamy, oily texture and spicy character, which pairs naturally with wine-cask finishes. Château Montelena is one of Napa Valley's most celebrated wineries.
