Hampden Estate Pure Single Jamaican Rum is an 8-year-old pot still rum from Hampden Estate in Trelawny, Jamaica, bottled at 46% ABV.
Hampden, founded in 1753, is famous for its high-ester 'funky' rums, made with wild fermentation and double distillation in pot stills.
This flagship was created with Velier and is fully matured in the tropics, with no added sugar and natural colour.
Expect banana, mango, pineapple, cinnamon, vanilla and caramelised apple, with ginger and oak on the finish.
It is a benchmark Jamaican rum for sipping and makes a fantastic Daiquiri base.
Aged rum is one of the most diverse spirits in the world, shaped by the sugarcane, the still and the warm climates where it matures, which speed up the interaction between spirit and wood.
