Hard Cut Vodka is a high-proof potato vodka co-founded by action star Dolph Lundgren, distilled in Idaho from potatoes and Rocky Mountain water and bottled at 90 proof (45% ABV).
Launched in March 2025, Hard Cut was founded with Dolph Lundgren as founder and chairman, and it is positioned as a bold alternative to standard grain vodkas. Only about 1% of vodkas in America are potato vodkas, and Hard Cut uses that traditional potato base to achieve a richer, creamier mouthfeel.
The vodka is distilled in Idaho from potatoes and Rocky Mountain water and bottled at 45% ABV, stronger than the usual 40% for vodka, in a tall, faceted decanter-style bottle with an embossed monogram. Lundgren was born in Sweden, but Hard Cut is an American vodka, made and sold in the United States, with an eye on Scandinavia for the future. The brand has also grown with support from fans through an equity crowdfunding campaign.
Despite its higher proof, it is smooth with no harsh burn. Expect crisp green apple, with hints of fennel bulb, roasted potato and butterscotch.
At 90 proof it stands up beautifully in a Martini, a Moscow Mule or a Bloody Mary, and it is smooth enough to sip ice cold. The creamy potato texture shines in a Vodka Martini with a lemon twist or a dirty Martini with olive brine, and the extra proof keeps cocktails lively even as the ice melts. Keep a bottle in the freezer for silky, chilled pours, and serve it alongside smoked salmon, pickles or caviar in the Scandinavian tradition.
