Havana Club Añejo Clásico is a golden, Spanish-style rum made in Puerto Rico from the original 1934 double-aging recipe, bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV).
Havana Club traces its roots to a family recipe from 1934, and today the rum is made with passion and pride in Puerto Rico, as the label proudly states: Puerto Rican rum. The bottle's dark label carries the house's tree emblem and the words Casa Fundada en 1878.
Añejo Clásico follows a double-aging process: the rum is aged for one to three years in oak barrels, then blended and aged again for at least three months. That second rest marries the flavors for a smoother, more premium-tasting rum with a velvety finish.
Expect pineapple and apricot on the nose, layered with hints of oak, almond and vanilla, a smooth, velvety palate of tropical fruit and gentle wood, and a rich, rounded finish.
Havana Club Añejo Clásico is perfect for elevating cocktails like the Noche Buena, the Mulata or the Clásico 1934, and it shines in a classic Mojito, a Daiquiri or a Cuba Libre with cola and fresh lime. It is smooth enough to sip over ice with a twist of orange, and it makes a lovely rum Old Fashioned with demerara and bitters. Pair it with roast pork, Cuban sandwiches, plantains, grilled pineapple or flan. A great everyday golden rum for the home bar, it is easy to share with friends.
