Heaven Hill Double Mash is a 9-year-old Bottled-in-Bond Kentucky straight bourbon that unites Heaven Hill's traditional and wheated bourbon mash bills, bottled at 100 proof (50% ABV).
A first-of-its-kind release, Double Mash brings together two-thirds of Heaven Hill's traditional bourbon mash bill (78% corn, 10% rye, 12% malted barley) with one-third of its wheated bourbon mash bill (68% corn, 20% wheat, 12% malted barley). It follows the Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897: made in one distilling season by one distiller at one distillery, aged in a federally bonded warehouse and bottled at exactly 100 proof. The result is a harmonious balance of structure and softness, enhanced by the smooth, rounded influence of wheat.
The nose offers brown sugar, caramel, honey, stone fruit and creamy vanilla, with a wafer note from the wheat. The palate is bright and rich, with caramel, vanilla, cinnamon, white peppercorn and cedar, and the finish is warm with oak and cinnamon.
The classic bonded label makes it a great gift for bourbon traditionalists.
Bourbon must be made in the United States from a mash of at least 51% corn and aged in new charred oak containers, and straight bourbon must be aged at least two years. Those rules give bourbon its characteristic sweetness, with caramel and vanilla drawn from the charred barrels.
Bottled-in-Bond rules date back to 1897 and guarantee authenticity.
