Hennessy V.S.O.P Privilège is a balanced, complex Cognac from the House of Hennessy, a blend of more than 60 eaux-de-vie made from Ugni Blanc grapes and aged up to 15 years, bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV).
Its story begins in 1817, when the Prince Regent of England, later King George IV, asked Hennessy for a "very superior old pale" Cognac. The blend Hennessy created for him established the V.S.O.P grade, which today requires every eau-de-vie in the blend to be aged at least four years in oak. Hennessy, founded in 1765, draws its eaux-de-vie from the top growing areas of the Cognac region.
The aroma opens with spiced oranges, apricots and hints of cinnamon and clove. On the palate, the aromatic complexity creates a smooth, rounded Cognac that deepens to reveal candied fruits, vanilla and mild tobacco. A subtle sweetness runs throughout, balanced by a lingering bitterness and spice at the finish.
