Hudson Short Stack is a New York straight rye whiskey distilled from hearty New York rye, mellowed in American oak and then finished in Vermont maple syrup barrels, bottled at 92 proof (46% ABV).
In the city that never sleeps, the diner is an institution, and Short Stack is Hudson's toast to those late-night haunts and the characters who inhabit them: its blue plate special. Hudson's story began in 2003, when Ralph Erenzo, who had bought land upstate for a climbers' ranch, saw the local grain farms, a mill and water from a limestone aquifer, and decided it was time New York had a new craft whiskey distillery. Hudson is known as the first new whiskey distillery in New York since Prohibition, made at Tuthilltown.
Aromas of vanilla, maple and oak hint at the big flavours to come. Sweet maple and vanilla mellow into mint and spice from the New York rye base, and the finish lingers.
A sweet, playful twist on New York rye, it makes a fun gift.
Enjoy it neat, on the rocks or in a maple Old Fashioned.
American rye whiskey is made from a mash of at least 51% rye and aged in new charred oak, giving it a spicier, drier character than bourbon, with notes of pepper, herbs and baking spice.
