Insólito Blanco is an additive-free 100% blue Weber agave tequila made by brothers Octavio and Alberto Herrera at Premium de Jalisco in Mazamitla (NOM 1558), the highest distillery in Mexico, and bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV).
Insólito translates to "uncommon." The brand was created by the Double Grammy-nominated country band Midland in partnership with the Herrera brothers, owners and operators of Premium de Jalisco. The Blanco blends agave from Jalisco's highlands and lowlands and is mellowed in tanks for six weeks before bottling. No artificial ingredients such as glycerin, food coloring, sugar-based syrups, synthetic agave or oak extracts are ever added: premium tequila in its highest and purest form.
Meant to be sipped and savored, it shows the flavor of pure, freshly distilled blue agave with cooked agave and citrus on the nose, herbal and buttery notes with touches of pepper and cinnamon on the palate, and a smooth, balanced finish.
The deep blue bottle makes it a stylish gift.
Blanco tequila is bottled unaged or rested for less than two months, so it shows the agave at its purest: bright, peppery and fresh. It is the classic choice for margaritas and palomas, and a good blanco is just as rewarding sipped neat.
Tequila can only be made from blue Weber agave in five designated Mexican states, chiefly Jalisco, and the finest bottlings are made from 100% agave. Sipping tequila is best enjoyed from a narrow-rimmed glass that concentrates the aromas, at room temperature and without salt or lime, so the character of the agave and the barrel can come through.
