Cream of Kentucky Cask Strength is a Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey from the Summer 2024 release, distilled under master distiller Jim Rutledge and bottled at cask strength of 106.4 proof (53.2% ABV).
The Cream of Kentucky brand was introduced in 1888 by I. Trager & Co. of Cincinnati, Ohio. Before the end of Prohibition it was acquired by the famed Schenley Company and reintroduced in 1934, and through the 1930s and 1940s it grew into one of the leading bourbon brands, with artwork by Norman Rockwell. Jim Rutledge has revived the brand, also known as Double-Rich.
This cask-strength edition intensifies the double-rich flavour profile the brand is celebrated for, bold and unfiltered.

Bourbon must be made in the United States from a mash of at least 51% corn and aged in new charred oak containers, and straight bourbon must be aged at least two years. Those rules give bourbon its characteristic sweetness, with caramel and vanilla drawn from the charred barrels.
Cask strength means the bourbon is bottled at the strength it came out of the barrels, without being diluted, so a few drops of water let you adjust it to taste and open up its aromas.
Jim Rutledge spent decades at Four Roses, where he became one of the most respected master distillers in Kentucky, before launching his own whiskeys under the J.W. Rutledge name.
