Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Barrel Proof Rye is a Tennessee straight rye drawn from a single barrel and bottled uncut, straight from the barrel. This bottle is 127.9 proof (63.95% ABV); every barrel lands at its own natural proof, typically between 125 and 140.
It is made from Jack Daniel's 70% rye mash bill and goes through the Lincoln County Process, charcoal mellowing before ageing, which rounds the edges and adds the signature Jack Daniel's smoothness. The whiskey then matures in new charred American white oak barrels in the barrelhouses at Lynchburg, Tennessee, and each barrel is selected for depth and character, so every bottle has its own personality.
At barrel proof it is big and full-bodied, with a thick mouthfeel. The nose brings spearmint, caramel, toasted oak and dark sugar warmth. The palate delivers bold rye spice, cinnamon, minty herbal lift, toffee sweetness and char-kissed oak, and the finish is long, warming and peppery, with lingering oak.
A single barrel from the world's best-known Tennessee whiskey maker, it makes a powerful gift for rye fans.
American rye whiskey is made from a mash of at least 51% rye and aged in new charred oak, giving it a spicier, drier character than bourbon, with notes of pepper, herbs and baking spice.
