JAJA Añejo is a 100% blue agave tequila from the Jalisco highlands, aged one year in American oak barrels and bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV).
JAJA began with three friends who felt great tequila was being sipped a little too seriously while so-called fun tequila was undrinkable. With help from Alex Pall and Drew Taggart of The Chainsmokers, who joined as partners, they balanced quality with fun after a few trips to Jalisco, creating a tequila for celebrating life's little things. The Añejo rests a full year in American oak; it is non-GMO, gluten-free, vegan-friendly and OK Kosher certified.
Full-bodied and complex, it brings vanilla and dried fruit up front, roasted coffee and caramel underneath, finishing on cooked agave and wood.
The colorful desert label makes it a fun gift for celebrations.
Añejo tequila is aged between one and three years in oak barrels of no more than 600 litres, long enough to add colour, sweetness and spice while keeping the character of the agave, which makes it a natural sipping tequila.
Tequila can only be made from blue Weber agave in five designated Mexican states, chiefly Jalisco, and the finest bottlings are made from 100% agave. Sipping tequila is best enjoyed from a narrow-rimmed glass that concentrates the aromas, at room temperature and without salt or lime, so the character of the agave and the barrel can come through.
