Joseph Cartron Le Vermouth Blanc is a semi-sweet white vermouth from Burgundy, bottled at 16.5% ABV. Joseph Cartron is a family distillery in Nuits-Saint-Georges, in Burgundy, established in 1882 and best known for its fruit liqueurs.

It is built on Burgundy Chardonnay, with three fruit infusions: apricot, sloe and the Burgundian vine peach, pêche de vigne.

Botanicals including cloves, bay leaves, nutmeg, liquorice and elderberry add spice and depth.

The result is elegant and fruity, with stone fruit and peach, gentle spice and a fresh, lightly bitter finish.

It is a refined, versatile white vermouth for spritzes and lighter cocktails.

Vermouth is an aromatised wine: a base wine fortified with neutral spirit and flavoured with botanicals, traditionally including wormwood, which gives the category its name from the German Wermut. Once opened, it should be kept in the refrigerator and enjoyed within a few weeks, as the wine base slowly loses its freshness.

How to Enjoy It

Serve Le Vermouth Blanc chilled over ice with a twist of lemon or a slice of peach as an aperitif, or top it with tonic or sparkling water for a refreshing spritz. It makes a softer, fruitier Martini with gin, a lovely white Negroni with gin and a gentian aperitif, and a bright highball with elderflower tonic. It pairs with fresh cheeses, smoked fish, melon and prosciutto, and light summer salads. For brunch, try it with sparkling wine and fresh peach purée. Like any wine-based aperitif, keep the bottle in the refrigerator once opened and enjoy it within a few weeks while it is fresh.
