Joseph Phelps Insignia 2022 is the winery's flagship Bordeaux-style red blend from Napa Valley, made from 92% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Petit Verdot, 2% Cabernet Franc and 2% Malbec.
It was aged for 24 months in 100% new French oak and is bottled at 14.5% ABV.
The wine is full-bodied, with deep fruit, an elegant structure and the capacity to age for many years.
On the nose come dark berry compote, allspice, cocoa, espresso and herbes de Provence, with red florals and wild herbs.
First made in 1974, Insignia was one of the first Bordeaux-style proprietary blends produced in California, and it is now made from estate-grown fruit across Joseph Phelps's Napa Valley vineyards. Each vintage blends the best lots of the year, and the 2022 delivers concentrated dark fruit and sweet spice with the polish and structure that have made Insignia a cellar staple for collectors.
