Juan Lobo Reposado is a 100% blue agave tequila from the Highlands of Jalisco, aged seven months in single-use Jack Daniel's barrels and bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV).
It is distilled in copper pot stills and fermented with Champagne yeast at NOM 1414, Feliciano Vivanco y Asociados. The golden color comes from its seven-month rest in American oak barrels that once held Tennessee whiskey.
You will notice a perfectly balanced flavor of sweet, cooked agave and woody notes from the barrel, finished with a round, vanilla taste. Tasting notes include cooked agave, vanilla, oak, clove, caramel and cinnamon.
The label with its wolf emblem makes it a bold gift.
Reposado, meaning rested, is tequila aged between two months and a year in oak, which gives it a pale gold colour and a gentle touch of wood while keeping the agave bright and lively.
Tequila can only be made from blue Weber agave in five designated Mexican states, chiefly Jalisco, and the finest bottlings are made from 100% agave. Sipping tequila is best enjoyed from a narrow-rimmed glass that concentrates the aromas, at room temperature and without salt or lime, so the character of the agave and the barrel can come through.
Barrels that once held Tennessee whiskey lend tequila a gentle sweetness and toasted oak character.
Highland agave is known for its sweet, fruity and floral notes, which balance nicely with the oak.
Pour it over a large ice cube with an orange peel for an easy sipper.
