KAH Blanco is a double-distilled, unaged 100% Blue Weber agave tequila presented in a hand-decorated ceramic skull bottle, bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV).
The white skull is inspired by the Bolivian tradition of Día de los Muertos: each year, on November 8, the skulls of loved ones are brought out and carried to the cemetery, where they are given offerings, in the belief that honoring the dead lets them protect the living from evil spirits. The cork takes the shape of pan de muerto, the bread of the dead, a common offering.
Distilled in stainless steel pot stills for a clean, refined agave taste, the blanco is bright and clean on the nose. It is initially sweet, quickly followed by a peppery spice, with a silky, delicate mouthfeel.
The intricate ceramic skull makes it a collector's piece and a striking gift for Day of the Dead.
Blanco tequila is bottled unaged or rested for less than two months, so it shows the agave at its purest: bright, peppery and fresh. It is the classic choice for margaritas and palomas, and a good blanco is just as rewarding sipped neat.
Tequila can only be made from blue Weber agave in five designated Mexican states, chiefly Jalisco, and the finest bottlings are made from 100% agave. Sipping tequila is best enjoyed from a narrow-rimmed glass that concentrates the aromas, at room temperature and without salt or lime, so the character of the agave and the barrel can come through.
