Keeper's Heart Irish + American is a blend of Irish grain and single pot still whiskeys with American rye whiskey, created by Master Distiller Brian Nation at O'Shaughnessy Distilling Co. in Minneapolis, bottled at 86 proof (43% ABV).
O'Shaughnessy Distilling was founded by cousins Patrick and Michael O'Shaughnessy, and its whiskeys are overseen by Master Distiller Brian Nation, formerly at the helm of Jameson, Redbreast and Midleton, who calls Keeper's Heart his biggest passion project. The family motto, Fugit Hora, the hour flies, runs around the label's keys and clock.
The blend combines the unique qualities of four-year-old Irish grain whiskey and four-year-old Irish pot still whiskey with four-year-old American rye whiskey, marrying Irish softness with American rye spice for a remarkable drinking experience. It won a Gold Medal at the 2022 San Francisco World Spirits Competition and has scored 92 points.
The nose is bright and floral with baking spices. The palate brings candied ginger, vanilla, lemon zest, sweet biscuits and stewed fruit, long and lingering with spice, candy sweetness and freshly charred oak, and the finish is long and pleasant, with spiced caramel.
