Kilkerran 8 Year Old Cask Strength is a Campbeltown single malt from Glengyle distillery, fully matured in bourbon casks and bottled at natural cask strength, 55.6% ABV. This bottling is Batch 11, bottled in November 2024.
Glengyle was revived in 2004 by the Mitchell family of Springbank, bringing distilling back to the site of the original Glengyle distillery in Campbeltown. Its whisky is released as Kilkerran, and the annual cask-strength 8 Year Old editions have become a favourite with fans of the region's oily, coastal style, combining earthy peat, zesty fruit and briny notes.
The nose is zesty, with key lime pie, apple jelly, honey and vanilla. The palate is creamy, with banoffee pie, vanilla custard and panna cotta, and the finish brings sea salt and brine with a note of gorse.
The classic Kilkerran label makes it a fine gift for lovers of Campbeltown whisky.
Taste it neat, then add a few drops of water to open the fruit.
Scotch whisky must be distilled and matured in Scotland for at least three years in oak casks, and any age statement on the label refers to the youngest whisky in the bottle.
Campbeltown was once known as the whisky capital of the world, with dozens of distilleries in the 19th century; today only a handful remain, which makes each Campbeltown malt a taste of living history. Cask strength bottlings let you choose your own dilution and discover how the whisky changes with each drop of water.
