Kyrö Malt is a Finnish rye whisky made from 100% malted wholegrain rye at the Kyrö Distillery in Isokyrö, Finland, double pot distilled and aged in fresh American white oak, bottled at 94.4 proof (47.2% ABV) in a 700ml bottle.
Kyrö was the first distillery to produce a Finnish rye whisky, and Malt Rye is its flagship. Working with 100% malted rye is unusual and famously difficult, but Finland's extreme northern climate produces small, densely flavored rye kernels that give the whisky its rich, expressive character. The rye is double distilled in pot stills and matured in new American white oak.
It has the aromatic spiciness of American ryes, balanced by rounded notes of brown sugar and chocolate, with forward rye spice and a soft, oily texture.
The bold black-and-white label makes it a great gift for whisky explorers.
American rye whiskey is made from a mash of at least 51% rye and aged in new charred oak, giving it a spicier, drier character than bourbon, with notes of pepper, herbs and baking spice.
Malted rye brings richer, rounder flavors than raw rye.
Finland's long summer days help the rye grow.
Serve it neat in a Glencairn glass.
A splash of water opens up the spice and sweetness.
It makes a striking Manhattan or Old Fashioned.
Try it in a Boulevardier with Campari and sweet vermouth.
Pair a pour with rye crispbread and aged cheese.
It is a great gift for whisky explorers.
