La Caravedo Puro Torontel is an award-winning Peruvian pisco made from 100% Torontel grapes at Hacienda La Caravedo in the Ica Valley, established in 1684, and bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV).
Nestled in the Ica Valley among the foothills of the Andes, Hacienda La Caravedo is the oldest continuously operating distillery in the Americas, where its piscos are handcrafted in small batches under master distiller Johnny Schuler, widely regarded as one of pisco's foremost authorities. The grapes are sustainably harvested.
This is a puro pisco, made from a single grape variety. It is distilled from 100% fully fermented Torontel grape juice, single distilled to proof, and rested in stainless steel without any additives: no color, no water, no sugar and no wood. At the San Francisco World Spirits Competition it was named Best in Show Unaged White Spirit and Best Pisco, with Double Gold, in both 2016 and 2017.
Torontel is an intensely aromatic grape, and the aroma brings floral high notes of geranium, orange blossom and honeysuckle. The flavor is bright with flowers and citrus fruit, and the finish is light, bright, long and refreshing. Over forty wine and spirits professionals judged it better than any other unaged clear spirit in the competition, two years running.
