Le Portier Shay VSOP is an elegant Cognac created by NFL Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe in honour of his grandmother, Mary Porter, bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV). This is the 375ml bottle.
Shay is crafted with traditional methods: Ugni Blanc wine is double distilled in Charentais copper pot stills, and the eaux-de-vie are aged at least four years in French oak barrels. It blends three crus, Grande Champagne, Petite Champagne and Fins Bois, for a rich, complex profile and a modern take on a timeless tradition.
It has earned 93 points from Wine Enthusiast and Platinum Best in Class at the 2022 SIP Awards, praised for complexity well beyond its VSOP grade.
Expect a smooth, layered profile of fruit and spice, with oak-aged warmth, dried fruit and vanilla, and a distinctive s'mores finish.
Its sculpted decanter makes even the half bottle an impressive gift.
Cognac must be made from white grapes grown in the Cognac region of France, double distilled in copper pot stills and aged in French oak, with age categories such as VSOP and XO describing the minimum age of the youngest brandy in the blend.
VSOP stands for Very Superior Old Pale, a grade that requires every eau-de-vie in the blend to be aged at least four years in oak.
Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne are the two most prized crus of the Cognac region, known for elegant, long-ageing spirits, while Fins Bois adds rounder fruit.
