Leopold's American Small Batch Gin is a classic American gin from the Leopold family distillery in Denver, made by fractional distillation, each botanical distilled on its own, and bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV).
Leopold Bros is a family distillery in Denver, Colorado, led by Todd Leopold, which makes its own base spirit in house. In creating this classic American gin, the distillers set out to honor each ingredient's distinctive profile through the meticulous practice of fractional distillation.
Rather than distilling all the botanicals together, each element is distilled individually: juniper berries, Valencia oranges, pomelos, coriander, cardamom and orris root, on a house-made spirit. After six separate distillations of intentionally sourced botanicals and citrus, the distillates are brought together to become this uniquely welcoming spirit. The same approach to citrus runs through the distillery's Gin No. 25, created to celebrate Todd Leopold's 25th year in the fermentation arts, which distills green and red mandarins separately before blending them.
The method captures the brightness of pomelos and Valencia oranges, the savory notes of coriander and cardamom, and the gentle foundation of juniper berries and orris root: citrus-forward and balanced, with juniper in a supporting role.
It makes a bright, approachable Gin & Tonic with an orange twist, a citrusy Martini, a Tom Collins or a Bee's Knees. Its gentle juniper also makes it a welcoming gin for drinkers who usually find gin too piney.
