Leyenda de México Reposado is a handcrafted, small-batch 100% blue Weber agave tequila aged nine months in both American and French oak barrels, bottled at 40% ABV.
It is crafted under the watchful eye of master distiller Melly Barajas, one of Mexico's most respected female distillers. Tequila Leyenda de México was founded in 1999 around a slow, natural process designed to draw out clarity and intensity, using agave grown in the Los Altos highlands of Jalisco.
Nine months in two kinds of oak give the reposado a golden colour and a balance of fresh agave with soft vanilla, caramel and spice.
Its bottle, with an embossed copper medallion, makes it a handsome gift.
Sip it neat, or use it in an elevated margarita.
Reposado, meaning rested, is tequila aged between two months and a year in oak, which gives it a pale gold colour and a gentle touch of wood while keeping the agave bright and lively.
Tequila can only be made from blue Weber agave in five designated Mexican states, chiefly Jalisco, and the finest bottlings are made from 100% agave. Sipping tequila is best enjoyed from a narrow-rimmed glass that concentrates the aromas, at room temperature and without salt or lime, so the character of the agave and the barrel can come through.
Tequila must be made from blue Weber agave grown in designated areas of Mexico, chiefly the state of Jalisco; the highland Los Altos region is known for large, sweet agaves that give fruity, floral tequilas.
A reposado, meaning rested, is aged between two months and one year in oak, long enough to take on colour and gentle wood character while keeping the bright agave flavour of a blanco.
