Lobos 1707 Extra Añejo is made from 100% blue Weber agave from Los Altos de Jalisco, aged 36 months in American white oak and finished in a solera of Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. It is bottled at 40% ABV.
The signature of Lobos 1707 is finishing its aged tequilas in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks using the solera method, in which casks are topped up in stages so that older spirit is always part of the blend. The red soil and strong sun of Los Altos give the agave a subtle peppery, herbal character.
The nose is deeply expressive, with sweet tobacco, smoked cinnamon, green peppercorn, dried date, leather, caramel, dried citrus peel and wood smoke over deep roasted agave. The flavour moves from citrus to oak and sherry, with a hint of molasses.
The sculpted bottle with its wolf emblem is a striking gift for tequila collectors.

Extra añejo is the most mature category of tequila, created in 2006 for tequilas aged more than three years in oak barrels of no more than 600 litres. The long rest softens the agave's natural pepper and brings out caramel, vanilla and dried fruit, which is why extra añejos are usually enjoyed neat, like a fine cognac or whisky.
