Lobos 1707 Reposado is a 100% Blue Weber agave tequila aged for seven months in American white oak and finished in a Pedro Ximénez sherry cask solera system, an additive-free tequila bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV). This is the 1-liter bottle.
Lobos 1707 brings together two rich traditions of spirit production, marrying founder Diego Osorio's centuries-old family sherry-making heritage in southern Spain with the national spirit of Mexico that he fell in love with. One of Osorio's 16th-century ancestors, with whom he shares a name, sailed from Spain to Mexico with oak barrels that gave the local spirit a smoother finish. The result is a liquid rooted in two cultures that has drawn an active investor group including LeBron James, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Issa Rae, Lindsey Vonn and Draymond Green.
The tequila is made at Compañía Tequilera de Arandas in the Jalisco highlands. After its time in white oak it is blended with a touch of Lobos 1707 Extra Añejo and finished in historic PX barrels using the solera method. The bold red of the label represents the rich red clay of the highland agave fields. Honors include Double Gold and Best in Class at the 2022 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
The nose is spicy, bold and balanced, with vanilla, light-roast coffee bean, sultana, sugar cane juice, pink peppercorn, butterscotch and burnt sugar. On the palate, dried baking spices, white chocolate, birch and sarsaparilla lead to marshmallow, dried orange peel and toasted caramel, and the finish is dry, elegant and lightly spiced.
